Selkirk Flood Protection Scheme
This project was delivered by the same contractor and consultant as the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme and completed in 2017 at a cost of £31.4 million.
Hawick Flood Protection Scheme
Originally estimated at £28m in 2013 for the initial flood protection work, it ballooned to £106.5m on completion in 2025, partly due to pandemic-related delays, but also because, like Musselburgh, it was expanded be a ‘4-in-1’ project incorporating walking and cycling routes and infrastructure upgrades. Unlike Musselburgh, Hawick experiences regular flooding.
